Alan Gray, Inc. is Hiring a Reinsurance Accountant Near Boston, MA

Alan Gray LLC is looking for a dynamic self-starter and team player with prior experience in either assumed or ceded reinsurance accounting. The ideal candidate should have experience in reinsurance contract interpretation, preparing reporting and billing packages, excel spreadsheet skills (pivot tables, V-lookup, etc.) and have worked for a reinsurance company, insurance company or reinsurance broker. The successful candidate will be able to work collaboratively to solve problems and document these solutions with excellent oral and written skills. The ideal candidate will have prior experience involving various lines of business including Property, Casualty, General Liability, and Workers Compensation.


Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Assist in various reinsurance related projects and audits for our clients.
  • Assist in preparation and rendering ceded accounts to reinsurers and reinsurance brokers applicable reinsurance contract provisions (QS, XOL & Fac).
  • Assist in preparing substantive notices and updates to reinsurers and reinsurance brokers explaining claim coverage and financial impact to the reinsurance agreement.
  • Ability to review large amounts of data and perform analytics to verify contractual reinsurance coverages.
  • Experience using databases, Excel, and system reports.
  • Experience in preparing Schedule F for statutory statements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on special projects as requested by clients.
  • Pursue timely collection of reinsurance recoveries.


Qualifications/Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Attention to detail and follow-through to make sure receivables are collected and processed.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to reconcile payments and accounts and to manipulate large volumes of data.
  • Ability to work with insurance and reinsurance systems.
  • Willingness to research issues and communicate findings.
  • Comfort working collaboratively with team members to manage reinsurance relationships.

Education and Experience:

  • A 4-year college degree is preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Industry designation or working towards a designation is desired, but not required. (ARe, CPCU, etc.)
  • 2 years of reinsurance experience preferably in a ceded reinsurance or accounting department
  • Extensive knowledge of reinsurance contract analysis and experience in reinsurance reporting
  • Proven record of accomplishment in Collections including research and verification of receivables

Special Requirements:

  • Eastern Standard Time Zone preferred.
  • 100% Remote role
  • Possible occasional requirement to travel to different office locations in PA or MA, to meet with colleagues as needed.
